Responsible Gambling

This site is about getting paid quickly, which means most of our readers are winning or expecting to. That makes this page more important rather than less, because the people most at risk are rarely the ones who think the warning is aimed at them.

Free confidential help, any time. The National Council on Problem Gambling runs a 24-hour helpline on 1-800-522-4700. You can call or text it, it costs nothing, and you do not have to give your name. It is available in every US state.

Signs worth taking seriously. Staking more than you decided to. Going back to recover a loss. Borrowing to play, or playing with money set aside for something else. Being dishonest with people close to you about how much you are gambling. Playing to escape stress rather than for entertainment. Feeling irritable when you cannot play. None of these on their own means you have a problem; several together is a reason to talk to somebody.

Tools on the sites we cover. Every operator ranked here has controls in account settings: deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods and full self-exclusion. Set them on the day you register, while the decision is easy. A deposit limit you set in advance is worth far more than one you go looking for at midnight.

Blocking software. Gamban and BetBlocker both block gambling sites at the device level, which is more effective than willpower when a site is two taps away. BetBlocker is free.

One thing specific to offshore play. Self-exclusion at an offshore operator applies only to that operator. There is no shared national register the way there is in some regulated markets, so excluding yourself at one site does not exclude you anywhere else. If you need to stop, device-level blocking is the more reliable route.

For families. If someone close to you is gambling in a way that worries you, the same helpline takes calls from family members and Gam-Anon runs support groups for people affected by someone else's gambling. You do not need their permission to get advice for yourself.
